Bryan,

In reading the article, I don't find our hometown comparable to the top ten worst cities...that's for sure. Yes, we have unemployment (we have a lack of businesses, too) and obesity, there are a lot of houses up for sale, and as far as the topic of political corruption - I won't go there...

As far as needing a full time mayor? I've gone back and forth on that over the past year. I weighed the pros and cons. I don't feel elected officials need to educate citizens (if they want to be educated they can seek that from professionals). I don't believe the issue needs to go to the voters as I don't believe the voters have asked for a full time mayor. If the voters ever found fault in our system in the future, they would make it known and it could then go to the voters.

I think we need less spending in all of our governmental bodies.

I think we have it pretty bad here in Franklin when the Common Council President finds it is a priority to make the Mayors position full time instead of looking to ways to cut the budget to keep taxes down.

He will be spending his time trying to educate the citizenry of Franklin on the right way to vote on the Full Time Mayor referendum instead of spending his time on the Finance Committee looking for ways to cut the budget.

Righty - He says that his constituents don't want cuts. Aren't you one of his constituents? Don't you feel that way?

I for one believe the City of Franklin should opt in for the $150,000 additional option to make our Tornado Sirens dual-purpose so they can also emit a high frequency sound to drive off these nuisances.

After all we could be the first ones in the County to have the dual-purpose sirens and Mayor Taylor could then pressure his fellow Mayors which he meets with regularly to do the same.

These critters are disease carriers and we need our city to protect us!

The best alternative is from a new company, CycledLife, www.CycledLife.com. They offer a CycledBurial(TM), which is a burial that returns the body to the earth in a manner that will not harm family or friends. One's remains are cleansed, using water and alkali, of all harmful pathogens. The body is returned to the earth. As the sterile remains contain no DNA, the body can be placed directly on the ground or just below the surface. No cemetery is required. Though, the remains may be buried in a cemetery. This process is vastly different from a cremation. Whereas cremation harms the living, a CycledBurial allows one to participate in the cycle of life.

The other thing we learned... we have a full subscription to the Journal Sentinel and they billed us something like $106 every 26 weeks. We called and complained and they resent the bill... $54 for 26 weeks. Don't pay your bill until after you call and negotiate it down.

They need to be regulated for their own good. Pit owners need to take off their blinders, if you want to help them you should push FOR bsl.

I know - I was wondering if all of a sudden the Journal has an expanded electronic version I didn't know about. But, I didn't care because it's my husband (who hates reading news on the computer) who wanted the paper, not me. I would cancel it in a second.

The front page (bottom corner) thanks us for "understanding" but says there were also "phone connection problems." That must mean not enough people answering phones. It says nothing about a credit.

"We are offering free access to our electronic edition today."

Anyone with a paid delivery subscription to the Journal Sentinel print edition already has 'free' access to the e-edition on line included with their subscription. But, they love to try to make you believe they're doing you a favor and giving you something as a concession.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I put both quotes on the same level.
