What? Sales Tax Independence Day?

I was just talking to my dad who lives in Vermont, and he mentioned that yesterday was “Sales Tax Independence Day” there. 

Where have I been? 

He said that’s not new there, they’ve done it a couple times before.  No state sales tax for a day on purchases $2,000 or less to try to boost the economy.

Would no sales tax for a day encourage you to go make some purchases you wouldn’t otherwise think about making?
