This was not the O.J. Simpson of old.
His wrists shackled, eyes reddened and husky voice cracking, the fallen football star — who famously was acquitted of double murder in Los Angeles — was sentenced Friday to up to 33 years in prison for robbing a pair of memorabilia dealers. He will be eligible for parole in nine years.
That looks like ham O.J. is serving in that promo above. It looks like O.J. Simpson will be serving a little bit something harder than dinner for the next 9-33 years. He’ll be serving some time in prison. Of course it’s well deserved. But it’s just not the same as if he would have been serving time for murdering his wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. If he committed those murders, and I’m just one of many who believes he did, I don’t know how he lives with himself. How? How does he do it? He’s one cold bastard.
Surprising even Judge Jackie Glass, Simpson delivered a tearful five-minute apology to a packed courtroom down the street from the casinos and pawnshops of downtown Las Vegas.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all of it,” Simpson said, in a moment that may have marked the end of a saga that the nation has watched for years: Simpson’s journey from gridiron icon to social pariah after the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. He was acquitted of their slayings in 1995, but a civil jury in 1997 found Simpson liable in their deaths.
Simpson, 61, told the judge that he went to a down-market Las Vegas hotel on Sept. 13, 2007, to recover family heirlooms — including his slain ex-wife’s wedding ring — to pass down to his children.

If it ends up being only nine years Simpson is very lucky. Very lucky indeed.

Even if he ends up only serving 9 years, at least justice was still served. I was glad to see O.J.’s celebrity didn’t help him avoid being held accountable for what he did.

Zach, I guess that’s what I mean. Justice was served in this instance, that’s for sure. But it wasn’t for the murders. I don’t think nine years is justice for those murders. We know that’s probably all he’ll serve…if he lasts that long in prison. He is healthy isn’t he??
I wonder is he’ll have a body guard in prison?

I’m not sure about his health (I know he has arthritis), but IF he’s paroled when he first becomes eligible, he will be 70-years old, and the “experts” say Simpson isn’t likely to be paroled at his first parole hearing.
Here’ hoping a “Christopher Scarver” is Simpson’s “roomie.”

Arthritis? Ohhhhh…maybe that added to why those slightly shrunken gloves in his murder trial didn’t fit. I guess his knuckles were swollen. Didn’t seem to stop him from playing golf. Hope prison isn’t too damp.
I bet there are quite a few inmates (and “out”mates” who would like to be his “roomie!”
